Investing in the Next Generation

“And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.”  —2 Timothy 2:2

This verse has captivated both my wife Shaunda’s life and mine for the past 30 years.

We’ve had some great mentors who have modeled what making disciples is all about. They challenged us to think about the impact and significance of the next generation. We are deeply aware of our responsibility to mentor, love, and pray emerging leaders into the roles and responsibilities God has for them.

Our focus and commitment is to see the Glen Eyrie and Eagle Lake teams lead with a heart for developing its staff.

God has grown Eagle Lake On Location and has allowed this “trickle down discipleship” to extend far past the boundary lines of Eagle Lake Camp. This summer, we have the opportunity to reach all the way to Ferguson, Missouri. There, the young leaders we’ve invested in and entrusted the Gospel to will in turn invest in and share the Gospel with the next generation, who will continue to spread the healing power of Christ’s love throughout their hurting community.

Our founder Dawson Trotman’s vision was to see God use ordinary believers to make an impact in the lives of others. He wasn’t a theologian or a scholar; he was a truck driver. Yet he was instrumental in bringing thousands of people to Christ and seeing them grow as disciples. We can’t wait to see how God uses ordinary college kids to impact our communities and our country this summer!

Who is a next-generation person you could invest your life in?
