As college students head back to campus, it’s an opportune time to pray for them. Today, more than 5,000 U.S. college campuses have been prayed for through prayer walking. The Navigators joined with other ministries serving college students to see this happen through EveryCampus, a ministry focused on prayer on U.S. college and university campuses. Would you join us in specifically praying for 621 priority campuses that do not yet have a known gospel movement?
Below are four ways to pray for college campuses across the nation and in your neighborhood. Use the prayer prompts below and take them to a local college or university. Invite a friend to join you for prayer walking and see how the Holy Spirit leads.
1. Pray for a gospel-centered community on every campus.
Father, bring students together who love You to create a Christian community on their campus. Use them as vessels of Your love to each person they meet. We pray for every student to know Your gift of salvation.
“See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him” 1 John 3:1 (NIV).
2. Pray for spiritual generations.
Father, guide those students who love and follow You to others on their campus who want to grow in Christ. Give them courage and opportunities to invite their friends to follow Jesus too.
“‘Come, follow me,’ Jesus said, ‘and I will send you out to fish for people’” Matthew 4:19 (NIV).
3. Pray for their decisions and futures.
Father, provide these students with wisdom and guidance as they seek to discover Your purposes for them and the unique ways You created them.
“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you” Psalm 32:8 (NIV).
4. Pray for students’ physical, mental, and emotional health.
Father, we ask You to bring encouragers into their lives to remind them they are seen, known, and loved. When they are anxious and overwhelmed, be their security and peace.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light” Matthew 11:28-30 (NIV).
