Glen Eyrie FAQsHow do I get to Glen Eyrie by car?Glen Eyrie is on the west side of Colorado Springs, just north of the Garden of the Gods. Our physical address is 3820 North 30th Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80904. MAP (PDF file) From I-25N/S: Take the Garden of the Gods exit (#146) and head west (toward the mountains) for 2 miles to 30th street. Turn left (south) and drive 1/2 mile; watch for the Navigators entrance on the right. Turn in, then immediately turn left to head into Glen Eyrie. All visitors will come through the Gatehouse. Overnight guests and visitors with reservations for a tea or tour should proceed to the Carriage House to check in; hikers and drive-through visitors should check in at the Gatehouse. Glen Eyrie is closed to the general public (does not apply to guests with reservations) on most Federal holidays, including but not limited to: Easter, July 4th, Labor Day, Memorial Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Eve through New Year's Day. This holiday season, Glen Eyrie will also be closed to all visitors (buildings locked, gate closed) on Nov 23rd and Dec 23rd thru Dec 29th. If you are unsure about a holiday, please call 719-634-0808 before visiting. Can I hike at Glen Eyrie? Glen Eyrie features over 20 miles of trails, ranging from easy to difficult. The general public can hike at Glen Eyrie, but only at specified times (see the next question for details) and in limited numbers. Anyone wishing to hike must come through the gatehouse for a hiking permit. First time hikers must sign a Hiking and Activities Release (PDF file). This release will be kept on file for one year. All hikers must present a valid state issued ID every time they enter the grounds. Persons under 18 must have a parent/guardian present or a completed waiver each time they enter. When is Glen Eyrie open to the public? Visitors without reservations may come onto the Glen Eyrie property Monday through Thursday, 9AM - 4PM, to hike or take a drive-through tour* (excludes holiday closure dates--please see above). Due to a high volume of weekend conference guests and special events, we are closed to the general public Friday through Sunday. Glen Eyrie reserves the right to close the property to the public without notice. Although this rarely occurs, please call 719-634-0808 before visiting. *Hikers and drive-through guests are not permitted to enter the Castle. Public access to the Castle is by guided tour only. The Glen Eyrie Bookstore is located in the Carriage House and is open to all visitors Monday through Thursday from 10 AM to 4 PM (719-272-7410). What's the weather like in Colorado Springs? Colorado Springs boasts an average of 300 sunny days each year. Typically mild, average temperatures do fluctuate. From October to May, our average temperature ranges from 16F to 76F. From June to September, our average temperature ranges from 38F to 90F. View current weather conditions. Is there a dress code? No! Aside from the basic "shirt and shoes required," we want your stay to be as comfortable as possible for each guest so we invite you to wear whatever makes you feel most comfortable. Colorado weather can fluctuate wildly in any season, so before packing/visiting, we suggest that you check the local weather (link in question above). The same "no dress code" rule applies to teas. People wear anything from their Sunday best, complete with hat and gloves, to jeans and sneakers. Once again, please wear whatever makes you most comfortable! What should I bring to a Glen Eyrie conference? We recommend you bring a notebook/pen and a Bible. If you don't have a Bible, we will be happy to provide one for you. What airport should I fly into? We recommend that you fly into the Colorado Springs Airport, approximately 25-30 minutes aways from Glen Eyrie. You may also consider flying into Denver International Airport, approximately 2 hours away from Glen Eyrie. Do you have an airport shuttle? No. However, transportation is available from Colorado Springs Airport through Yellow Cab (719) 634-5000 ($35 for up to four passengers for both services). Prices subject to change. When and where do I check-in? Check-in of any kind should be done between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. (unless your conference or retreat starts earlier) at the Carriage House. The gate attendant will give you directions. What are the gate hours? Our Gatehouse operates 7 a.m. to midnight daily. Guests needing to enter the property between midnight and 7 a.m. can do so by using the keypad outside the gated entrance. Where do I park? Each building has an adjacent parking area. Recreational vehicles may have trouble crossing our narrow bridges and should be left in the Welcome Center parking lot. Does Glen Eyrie have a gift shop? The Glen Eyrie Bookstore, located in the Carriage House, sells a variety of Glen Eyrie, Navigator and Colorado gifts as well as a large selection of NavPress and other Christian books. The bookstore also features a cafe serving a variety of delicious hot and cold beverages. The bookstore/cafe is open to the public Monday through Thursday, 10AM-4PM, with additional hours for our overnight guests. Please call 719-272-7410 with questions or to place special orders. Who should I make my check out to? Checks should be made out to The Navigators. If mailing a check, please address to The Navigators, Attn: Glen Eyrie Group, PO Box 6819, Colorado Springs, CO, 80934 What is Glen Eyrie's returned check policy? $20.00 plus collection costs will be added to all returned checks. How do taxes work at Glen Eyrie? Per Colorado State Laws, any 501(c)3 organization whose attendees are reimbursing the organization for conference expenses will be deemed taxable. Any organization paying for the conference expenses in full and is not being reimbursed by attendees will be deemed non-taxable. What credit cards do you accept? We accept Visa, MasterCard and Discover; we do not accept American Express. All guests are required to present a valid credit card at time of check-in. Are group deposits required? For all groups staying overnight as part of a conference, retreat, or reunion, a non-refundable deposit of 10% is required at the time the contract is signed. For day events, we require a non-refundable deposit of 50% at the time the contract is signed. |
