Kyle and Maggie Hooper live in Annapolis, Maryland where they serve with The Navigators at the United States Naval Academy.
The Navigators is a ministry that shares the gospel of Jesus and helps people grow in their relationship with Him. The Navigators develop disciples of Jesus and encourage spiritual growth across life stages by reaching and discipling people where they work, live, and play to include college campuses, military bases, inner cities, workplaces, local communities, and in hard to reach places.
Kyle and Maggie were introduced to The Navigators while on Active Duty with the U.S. Air Force. During this time they witnessed firsthand the need for God within the military. From seeing drug addiction, suicides, broken marriages, and more, they were burdened by the deep longing in our service members lives for satisfaction and purpose, and the subsequent devastation in their lives when they search for it anywhere other than in Christ. As a result, Kyle and Maggie are passionate about raising up Godly leaders across our nation’s military and helping followers of Jesus to know God more intimately and walk in the fullness of His Spirit.
Kyle and Maggie are currently serving at the Naval Academy where they are being trained in preparation for their next assignment of ministering to the men and women of the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets. They will begin ministering at Virginia Tech in the fall of 2019. As one of six Senior Military Colleges in the United States, The Navigators have been praying for many years that God would send a full-time staff couple to Virginia Tech and Kyle and Maggie are humbled that God has chosen to use them in helping to answer the faithful prayers of many people.
Kyle and Maggie are excited for the work God is going to do during both their time in Annapolis as well as in Blacksburg! If you would like to know more about their calling, ministry, or specific ways you can pray for and support them, please click the contact button at the top of the screen!
Dear Family and Friends,
Did you notice anything different about the look of this newsletter….something that’s not normally on the top of the page?! If you’re thinking the Virginia Tech logo then you are correct! Can you guess why it is there? That’s right….because we are moving to Blacksburg, Virginia this summer to begin our ministry to the Virginia Tech Corps of Cadets!!! We are ecstatic that God is sending us to minister back at our alma mater and to our future military leaders!
Virginia Tech is one of six senior military colleges in the country with over a thousand cadets across all four branches of our armed services. The Corps commissions approximately 200 Second Lieutenants and Ensigns each year! In fact, out of all of the ROTC programs in the country Virginia Tech was just recognized as the single-largest producer of Navy SEAL candidates! The Corps of Cadets has a history of excellence when it comes to producing top-notch military officers, and it is also a key ministry focus for The Navigators Military Ministry.
For many years The Navigators have been praying that God would send a full-time staff couple back to Virginia Tech and we are humbled that both God and The Navigators have chosen us to be that couple! Virginia Tech has a rich history with The Navigators going back several decades and over the past few years, God has worked powerfully through a small team of dedicated volunteer staff to begin growing a movement among the cadets. As the ministry is growing, God has made it clear that now is the time to go there and build upon the foundation that has been laid!
Welcoming in a new and exciting chapter comes with saying goodbye to another, and for us that will be the ministry at the Naval Academy. During our time here we have watched God move in mighty ways in the lives of the midshipmen and we are excited for what He will continue to do in our remaining months here and beyond! This spring the focus has been on building community within the ministry and through men’s and women’s breakfasts as well as our recent Presidents Day Retreat God has done exactly that. He has brought our group of mids closer to each other and to Himself as they seek to walk with Jesus!
Maggie and I cannot emphasize enough how grateful we are for each of you as it is only through your prayers and gifts that we are able to do what we do! In the coming weeks we will be sending out a letter with more information on our move and asking you to prayerfully consider a one-time gift to help cover some of the moving expenses we will incur as we prepare to launch into this new chapter. We thank each of you for your faithful partnership with us and we couldn’t be happier to have you on this journey with us!
