Hello! We are Mike & Marsha Slone, currently serving with the Military Mission and African American Network at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD.
I, Mike, came to faith in Christ as my LORD and Savior while in college at The Citadel. Shortly after, God brought me into relationship with The Navigators ministry on campus and I was discipled by Dale Oderman and Tom Kotouc. I became captivated by both Christ and His calling to world evangelization through spiritual mulitplication (Matt 28:18-20). Upon graduation, I was commissioned a 2Lt in the USAF and reported for flight training at Mather AFB, CA, where I met Marsha, who was discipling women on base. Marsha came to faith in Christ through the witness of a friend and was trained in discipleship by the ministry of CRU.
We married in 1978 shortly after I arrived at my first assignment serving as an Electronic Warfare Officer on B52s at Loring AFB, ME. By faith we started a ministry at Loring AFB for three years and then were transfered to Mather AFB where we helped NavStaff start back up the ministry there in 1982. We felt God’s calling into full time ministry with The Navigators in 1985. Since then we’ve served as NavStaff at NAB Coronado, CA, Travis AFB, CA, Beale AFB, CA, and RAF Lakenheath/Mildenhall, UK before coming to USNA in 2002. In 2005 God led us to partner with then midshipman 1/C Jake Owens to pioneer a ministry among African American midshipmen at USNA.
