Philippians 4:14-23 … Here we end the wonderfully instructive book of Philippians where we have been reminded that real life is in Christ (1:21), that we want to be like-minded with Him (2:2); that knowing Him is the ultimate goal (3:10) and that He is the source of strength for every believer (4:13). Life, mind, goal, and strength is a good memory help for this book … and we do need that, because the goal is not just to read, but to retain.
In these closing verses, we gain some helpful historical notes that Paul was supported only by this small church in Philippi as he took the Gospel into southern Europe. And he gives another superb and comforting memory verse in 4:19 … My God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus. If you like, you could even add another help to the four given … Christ is our life, mind, goal, strength and supply. And that is amazing grace!
