Jude 17-25 … The reality of apostasy in the church itself has been revealed in the preceding verses with warnings to recognize it when it occurs and to guard against the dilution of faith. Jude is concluding his letter with encouragement to “build yourselves up in your most holy faith” (v.20), relying on the Holy Spirit and waiting anxiously (expectantly) for the coming of Christ. At the same time, believers are to exercise mercy and evangelism based on the reality of eternal damnation that awaits unbelievers who have rejected God. It’s a serious call to action that’s repeated frequently in Scripture (e.g.: Ezekiel 3:17- 21). Jude ends with one of the wonderful and familiar doxologies of the Bible, Jude 24-25, which is a fitting statement of the believer’s reliance on the Living Lord.
