2 Corinthians 12:11-21 … The Corinthians were a difficult congregation. They received the blessings of Paul’s ministry, indeed they received Christ as Savior through the ministry of Paul, but when critics came along, the Corinthians didn’t rise to Paul’s defense and left Paul to defend himself. That’s what’s occurring in these verses. My favorite Pauline declaration is in verse 11 … “I am nothing.” It’s a favorite, because my mentor in Bible teaching, Dick Woodward, used to say (regarding Moses, but it’s applicable here) … “God can work with somebody who knows he’s nobody; God will make him somebody in His service.” We ought not make much of ourselves, but God will make much of us if we let Him. Paul’s testimony of self-sacrifice (v.15) is an important model of ministry … of the minister of God giving all for the sake of bringing the Gospel to others. Nothing is so important as that!
