1 Thessalonians 2:1-9 … The model of Paul’s ministry is in view here. Paul had been cruelly mistreated by the authorities in Philippi (beaten with rods – Acts 16:22), yet is undeterred in delivering the message God has given him for the nations. We’d note that Paul didn’t flavor his talks to please people (2:4) nor to flatter them (v.5) or gain approval from them (v.6) … but was nurturing in his approach. That’s the ideal presented here: nurture, feed, love, and model people to Christ. Might we learn that ideal as we interact with others in an unbelieving world!
