Before You Can Live It, You’ve Got to Read It
Three Plans to Help You Read Through the Bible

Most Christians would agree that a key part of living as a follower of Christ—a disciple—is living out our faith in accordance with the truth we find in God’s Word. But before we can live a Bible-based life, we need to actually read the Bible. And while we may agree that reading the Bible is a good idea, we sometimes struggle to actually do it. Maybe we struggle to get started (Should I just start at the beginning and read until I’ve finished?). At other times we just read snippets or familiar passages (and miss a lot of important information).

Having a plan for reading through the Bible can be a big help. But we’re all different, and what works for one person may not be the right plan for another. Here are three plans from NavPress that can help you read through the Bible in a way—and at a pace—that’s right for you.

The 5x5x5 Bible Reading Plan
This plan takes five minutes per day, five days per week, and gives you 5 ways to dig deeper into the Scriptures. It will take you through one chapter of the Bible each day and will help you read through the entire New Testament in one year.

The Book-at-a-Time Bible Reading Plan
This plan intersperses both Old and New Testament books in each month’s readings. It spreads your reading of the four gospels throughout the year (rather than reading the four Gospel accounts one right after another). Using this plan, you can read through the entire Bible in one year.

The Discipleship Journal (DJ) Bible Reading Plan
With the DJ plan you’ll read shorter passages in four places in God’s Word every day. This helps you to better grasp the unity and interconnectivity of the Scriptures. This plan will help you to read through the complete Bible in one year.
