Seven Assurances for Every Christian

Your faith journey with Jesus is something you need to be sure of. Not only you, but if you are helping other Christians grow in their walk of faith, they need to proceed with assurance as well. You need to know God loves you, understand Jesus actually walked this earth, believe you are forgiven. When you commit the following verses to memory, you will grow not only in your assurance but also in your faith.

1. Assurance of God’s Love
God absolutely loves you. Do you know that? It’s hard to get our mind around, but it is true. Memorize this verse (also Psalm 86:5; Romans 5:5) and you will grow in your assurance of God’s love:
Zephaniah 3:17
The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.
Zephaniah 3:17

2. Assurance of Jesus
Jesus is “God in a bod.” He is the basis of everything we have from God and in God today. Memorize this (also Matthew 1:21; Luke 24:39,40) and you will have greater assurance of Jesus:
Hebrews 1:3
The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.
Hebrews 1:3

3. Assurance of Forgiveness
Old sins and things we have done in the past can tear at our confidence and ability to believe we are actually forgiven. Memorize this (also Isaiah 53:51; 1 Peter 2:24) and you will have greater assurance of forgiveness:
Ephesians 1:7,8
In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding.
Ephesians 1:7,8

4. Assurance of Strength
When you feel discouraged or weak, there is a recourse that you can call on to give you strength: God’s Word. Memorize this (also John 10:10; 1 Corinthians 15:56,57):
2 Thessalonians 3:3
But the Lord is faithful, and he will strength¬en and protect you from the evil one.
2 Thessalonians 3:3

5. Assurance of an Answer
With Christ, you have direct access to God. God wants you to talk to Him about everything, and He promises an answer. So memorize this (also John 16:24; 1 John 5:14):
Jeremiah 33:3
“Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.”
Jeremiah 33:3

6. Assurance of Eternal Life
While Jesus will give us all we need for this life, that doesn’t compare to what He will give us in eternal life. Memorize this (also John 3:16; 1 John 2:17) for greater assurance of your eternal life:
1 John 5:11,12
And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
1 John 5:11,12

7. Assurance of Guidance
Amid challenges and frustrations, look to the Lord for guidance, direction, and purpose. He is ready to provide. Memorize this (also Psalm 32:8; 1 John 4:4) and you will grow in your assurance of God’s guidance:
Proverbs 3:5,6
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
Proverbs 3:5,6
