Spectrum Mission Staff(Ethnic Ministries) The Face of America is changing. By 2042, the ethnic minority in America will become the majority with the Hispanic population as the fastest growing minority group in America. Fifty one percent of all babies born today are Hispanic. One-third of the current population in the United States is made up of ethnic minorities. That is 100 million people.
These realities bring challenges to the movement of the gospel with:
- Percentage of ethnic minorities living in poverty is 22%
- Over 60% of prison and jail inmates are ethnic minorities
- The suicide rate among Native Americans is 72%, greater than any other ethnic groups
- Percentage of African-American households headed by a single parent is 63%
- More than 95% of Native people and 90% of Asian Americans are unconvinced about Jesus
There is a vast ethnic harvest in America that is hungry to know our heavenly Father.
Spectrum Mission of The Navigators is passionate about reaching every ethnic specific group in our Nation. This is our call. This is our vision. This is our cry. The Ethnic harvest is plentiful but the laborers are few; therefore we ask the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.
In 2005, after much prayer the four ethnic specific ministries of The Navigators united as one and birthed Spectrum Mission to reach all ethnic minorities in the United States. Spectrum Mission includes 82 staff ministering in four national ministries and networks:
- African American Network
- Asian American Ministries
- NavVida (the Latino and Hispanic Ministry)
- Native American Indian Discipleship Ministries
We celebrate the unique contributions and cultural expressions from each of our ethnic specific groups:
- Taufiki – Grace (African American)
- Ohana – Family (Asian American)
- NavVida - Life (Hispanic / Latino)
- K’e –Community (Native American)
