Alex and Diana Mata
Personal background
I (Alex) first met The Navigators when I was in the Air Force in the '80s. My wife, Diana, was saved through a Navigator ministry at the University of New Mexico.
We're excited to be serving with The Navigators because the "calling" statement--"to advance the Gospel of Jesus and His Kingdom into the nations through spiritual generations of laborers living and discipling among the lost"--is the right fit for our hearts. We want to reach generations for Christ among the Hispanic communities in Los Angeles.
Before joining The Navigators, I worked in aviation for almost 20 years as an aircraft mechanic. My wife is a bilingual elementary school teacher in Los Angeles. We've been married since 1988 and have two boys, Emilio and Andrés.
Most people would be surprised to know that I am trying to learn to play the piano. My best friends are people who love the Lord, who like football and airplanes, and who play chess.
Ministry information
Our ministry is multi-faceted and involves leading a home Bible study, receiving training as a family counselor and doing marriage counseling with couples,
meeting with pastors,
doing one-to-one ministry, corresponding with individuals by letter and email, and updating our Navigators web page and our personal website. We
also travel for out-of-state ministry events and coordinate outreach
activities. We especially enjoy and look forward to these outreaches,
because that is the heart of the ministry-to reach the lost!
