If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God (2 Corinthians 5:17 - 20).
These words formed the basis of my sharing on missions this last weekend in Naivasha at a Navigator camp for young people from the Machakos area. By grace, I shared three messages on missions with an empasis on "The Mission of God and That of His People," "Our Mission in the Context of Acts 17:26 - 28," and "The Life of the Gospel in Light of Isaiah 53 and 61." We thank God for this opportunity to stimulate one another to love and good deeds. We remain hopeful that these young people will see their lives for what they really are - channels of grace - in their various stations in life, and that they will have the desired Gospel impact. Pray for Alex and Monica Kiamba as they disciple this group!
Let me also take this opportunity to share some very wonderful news with you. On Saturday, June 19, accompanied by two uncles, I went to see a girl's parents about their daughter. The Kisa call it "okhuserera." We were very well received, and I was given the girl. Rose Mwende and I are now making plans to be wed on December 11 this year. I first met Rose in August 2008 on our way to a Navigators Family Conference in Limuru. At the time, the only thing I noticed about her (which also shocked me) was that she was only 22 (it was her birthday) as she seemed to be maturer than that. A little friendship here and there, many failed attempts at dating her, she finally agreed to date me in mid-September 2009 after hearing a series of parables (a re-interpretation of the parable of the hidden treasure worked very well) from me :-). Rose serves with the Navigators part-time in the High Schools Ministry at Alliance Girls High School.

Who can find a virtuous and capable wife? She is worth more than rubies! The man who finds a wife finds a treasure and receives favor from the LORD! I am thankful for Rose. The road to December 11 and the life after is tough, but I am grateful for friends like you because I know you will pray and stand with us. Pray for us as we walk through the process - for wisdom and understanding, for divine bonding, for provision, for favor. Pray also for continued provision and divine enabling as I carry on with my ministry at Kenyatta University and the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT).
Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen!
