University of New MexicoAnd Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."
Matthew 28:19-20
As a freshman at the University of Colorado – Colorado Springs, I met The Navigators and learned what it meant to have a relationship with God. I gave my life to Christ, making him my Lord and Savior. With the discipleship and personal mentoring of a few Navigator staff, I learned how to pray and study the Bible and effectively apply it to my life. Jesus’ Great Commission became very real to me and incredibly important. I realized God was calling me to three things: to advance His gospel, make disciples, and raise up leaders and laborers who would do the same thing.
Toward the end of college, Leigh Ann and I met while we were both working at Glen Eyrie, The Navigators’ conference center. Together we grew in our love for ministering to college students and began full-time collegiate ministry with The Navigators. We married in 2007 and moved to Albuquerque the same year to start ministering at The University of New Mexico. In April 2011, our wonderful daughter, Hayley Grace, was born, who is now our greatest joy.
Leigh Ann and I see God doing amazing things on the college campuses across our country. Students are hungry for a real relationship with the God of the universe. They crave relationships with their peers that are built on love, trust, and respect. They eagerly seek what will satisfy and fulfill them. They want to make their lives count. They are also in the midst of great challenges that pull them away from finding these things…pulling them away from Christ. They need someone who will come alongside to help them, encourage them, guide them, coach them, and train them to know Christ and make Him known. This is what The Navigators is all about. This is what Leigh Ann and I are about. We desire to see generations of young men and women become strong leaders and laborers for the kingdom of God in their relational networks for the rest of their lives.
