Lauris originally thought he wanted to be a college professor of mathematics and even taught for a couple of years at a university. But shortly after meeting his lovely wife, Rhonda, God changed all that by calling them to full-time ministry with The Navigators. That was 30 years ago. Now, after being blessed with eight wonderful kids (they just couldn’t say ‘no more blessings, God’) and 11 years ministering in San Diego and Japan with some great Navy folks, they’ve been “boots on the ground” at Fort Hood, Texas, the last 19 years. They are in love with Jesus more and more, they still love their kids and sons-in-law (grandchild #1 just arrived), and are having a blast helping soldiers, airmen, and sailors--and occasionally a marine--find real answers to life. In addition to their involvement at Fort Hood and in their new role as the Nav Military Ministry Regional Shepherd Leader, Lauris and Rhonda travel around TX, OK, AR, and LA to encourage staff and laborers on the 18 installations where Nav ministry operates.
