The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion- to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor.”You did not choose Me but I chose you and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit, and that your fruit would remain, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name He may give to you. Isaiah 61:1-3
When I was in college, I was always looking for another room on the dorm floor with more activity, loud music and fun. I was longing for people and busyness to fill a need in my heart for approval and acceptance. My soul was not at peace or at rest. God brought a woman to disciple me my senior year. She taught me how to live out my faith in a practical way. I could not get over how much God used that relationship to transform my life and my relationship with Jesus.
As my life changed, I wanted to pass it on to others. Right now, I have the privilege to give my life away to young college women at Cal Poly University. They are struggling with so many different things. They are longing for a man, or friends, or success in the classroom, or partying to satisfy a deeper longing in their hearts. God has entrusted me with a great privilege and responsibility. I can offer Christ’s message of hope that He offers in John 6:35, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me will never go hungry, and he who believes in Me will never be thirsty.” I am so excited to be apart of these girls’ journeys with God.
