Family Information

We are Kathie and Pete Pagan.
We have been in the Chicago area since 2006 and with The Navigators since September 1997. Initially, we were involved with the Church Discipleship Ministry (CDM) Team in Seattle that concerned itself with helping churches develop and implement intentional disciple-making strategies. We serve as a Retired Area Representatives with the Chicago Metro Mission. Want to know more? Read on.

Ministry Emphasis
We concentrate on the City Life Ministry here in Chicago, working with college graduates who have come to Chicago and want to maintain a more missionally active and disciplined walk with Christ. We have been “on loan” to Jesus People USA (JPUSA) in Chicago for the past 2 years, working with their in-house discipleship training program. This experience has prepared us well for our current assignment as we have been providing teaching, counseling and daily support to the young adults from different parts of the world who have come together to learn to minister effectively to the lost while living communally.

Life-on-Life
We continue to work life-on-life with individuals and couples to help them strengthen their marriages and deepen their personal walks with Jesus Christ. Pete is part of a team that provides weekly pastoral leadership for the people living in the local retirement community. Pete also meets weekly with a number of men, in person or by phone, and Kathie meets together weekly with a group of women where we live.

Personal History
Pete was born in Philadelphia, PA, and Kathie was born in Omaha, NE. We were married in 1965 and have two married children, each of whom has two children.

Our son David is a lawyer, and his wife Charlene is a home-school teacher for their two sons and an avid Bible student. She and David have both ministered on short-term missions in India and are involved with their local church.

Our daughter Debbie, and her husband Dave, work as members of JPUSA. Debbie uses her degrees in math and theater to teach at the community's school, while Dave serves as case manager for the residents of the senior retirement center co-located with the community.

Personal Testimony - Pete
Both Pete and Kathie came to Christ in 1972, but not at the same time. Early that year, Kathie came to understand her need for a personal relationship with God by reading her Bible. She committed her life to Christ and experienced such a dramatic positive change in her attitude and outlook that Pete began to wonder what had happened.

While seeking to find answers to that, and some other spiritual questions, Pete began studying the Scriptures while teaching Junior High boys in their church Sunday School. Pete's search led him to the realization that although he would have said he was a Christian, he had never surrendered the control of his life to Jesus Christ, and the life he and Kathie had together did not remotely resemble anything described in the Bible as righteous.

Later that year Pete claimed for himself the forgiveness that God offers through Jesus' death and resurrection. Soon thereafter he was invited to a Navigator Bible study where he learned what it meant to live victoriously in the Christian faith. Pete and Kathie have been involved with The Navigators ever since.
