. WOW!!! Where to start?? February was action-packed and was kicked off with our regional student conference in NorthBay MD. 230+ students and friends came together as we investigated our theme -- Life_Authentic. The Navigators Vice-President of Cultural Affairs, Mr. Eddie Broussard (center), was the keynote speaker and led us in a riveting time of exploring God’s plan for our lives from His revealed word – the Bible. March was fast and furious with the Lord opening a great many doors for ministry. On March 14th, after being stood up again by a freshman on the campus of Bowie State University, something AMAZING happened by sheer coincidence… NOT!!!God orchestrated my meeting the Head football coach through the most unlikely of circumstances. We setup an appointment to have lunch to discuss what I (and of course many of YOU) had been praying for the Lord to do at Bowie State University. Long story short— we met, ate, laughed, cried and decided that together we would trust God to do something ENORMOUS in the hearts of students and … we would start with the football team! Keep your seats for this one… Coach asked if I could share everything that we had just discussed during lunch with his entire team AND with the ladies basketball team in the weeks ahead. You know what? I didn’t even feel like I needed to pray about this one. YES! OUI! SI! AYE! HAI! CIAO! YUP! In any language this was a go!
Still floating from this experience, I headed off to Harlem, NY to participate in a milestone Congress on Discipleship which brought together church and Missions’ leaders from around the nation to unpackage the “what next?” of discipleship. The Conference was in a word – TRANSFORMATIONAL. All those that attended have raved about the sense of God’s presence throughout the weekend. All agendas centered on Christ and making Him known! As a van driver, facilities liaison, Master of Ceremonies, workshop planner, discipleship track coordinator, workshop speaker, and staff recruiter, I was overjoyed to be gainfully employed. Quick trips to Vermont, North Carolina, Atlanta, and finally Pensacola to participate in the marriage celebration of my friend, 2nd Lt Jake Owens, USMC, to his lovely new wife Caren, completed the month. :o)
Pam
can’t believe how loud a house full of men can be…they definitely take after Marvin! She relishes the quiet moments when the guys go out and do “guy things”. Pam’s energy has been amazing. She still teaches her step classes and is doing a fabulous job of juggling a number of activities.Taylor
has turned out to be such a delightful young man. We can’t believe he’s 14! He enjoys running hurdles in track but he is especially excited to be volunteering at the animal shelter twice a week. He has such a love for animals and is looking forward to the prospect of fostering some of the animals who may need special care until they are well enough to be adopted.Zac
has got the bug! He tells us everyday how much he loves track; he has even developed the same love for hurdles. Pam is a little anxious about his first track meet and prays his short little legs will carry him over those hurdles. Zac continues to count down the days till the pool opens. At heart, he is still our little fish boy.Josh
was excited about his lead role in the play Westwoods, until he realized that the story was about his character “wooing” the heart of a young lady for marriage. He speaks his lines angrily and turns his back to the princess. Little man is being coached by Pam and continually reminded to look at the young lady with something other than contempt. The poor baby had a breakdown and shared with Pam that he wishes he was not King John and that he doesn’t know what he got himself into.We want to thank many of you who have called us with words of encouragement, written us to share your well wishes, and interceded in prayer for us.
WE COULD NOT HAVE GOTTEN THROUGH THESE PAST FEW YEARS WITHOUT YOUR LOVE AND SUPPORT. We are so blessed to call you FRIENDs!!!
