The Navigators
To Know Christ and Make Him Known

Ministry

Over the last several months we have been going through a reorganization in Computer Services. We have done some downsizing, combined some teams for better efficiency and moved some personnel around to get the best skill fit for each role. While this has had its stresses, the end result is exactly what I have been looking for - a team that is committed to moving forward together to support the business and ministry needs of The Navigators. On June 21, we kicked off "A New Season of Excellence," focusing on improved customer service and bringing technology solutions to the organization.

At the same time we have had a number of projects underway of which several are completed. In addition to upgrading our PeopleSoft financial systems, we implemented a new staff portal. A portal is a framework that allows us to make quick changes to web information, provides powerful tools for building web applications faster and better, and provides a single place for our staff to go for information. It has gotten good reviews from our staff and has allowed us to develop applications in a fraction of the time it took under the old method.

Among other projects is a new web-based expense reporting system, the rewriting of our public web site using the new portal technology and the implementation of a new donation management software. We are also in the process of implementing a disaster recovery plan and simplifying our hardware infrastructure to reduce maintenance costs and provide better efficiency. It's a lot of work, but we have a great team to do it!
