Mark Coyne
Over the past 8 years our efforts have been toward getting our systems at headquarters aligned, integrated, and upgraded. That is pretty much complete and we need to begin to focus on enabling our field ministries to move forward through the use of technology. Our leadership believes that one of my strengths is to bring new solutions to issues. So, to enable me to fully engage with the field, I will no longer be directing our Computer Services.
As of May 1, 2009, I began directing our U.S. Field Operations and Technology. As I have read through the current field strategy plans and papers, the thing that jumps out at me again and again is the need for collaboration and connection. And, yet, our field staff and leadership are not located together at headquarters, but scattered across the country. I see technology as a big factor in helping them to connect with each other to lead the ministry, especially if they are going to collaborate as our strategy calls for.
I have been involved in a number of meetings that were focused on this very topic. It is exciting to see the vision and effort being expended to solve some decades old issues relating to seeing the people from our ministries continue to minister and impact their environment for a lifetime. I believe meeting this need and the mindset of our younger generations will require the prudent use of technology. It is a privilege for us to be involved in this aspect of the kingdom. Thanks for taking the journey with us.
