Faith@Work
Faith@Work
Consider this observation of the mindset of corporate America today:
“Work has become our new religion, where we worship and give our time. As people’s commitment to family, community, and faith are shrinking, they begin to look to their careers to provide them with meaning, connectedness, identity, and esteem” (John Ortberg, Pastor, Willowcreek Church in Chicago).
In light of this, the goal of The Navigators B&P Women’s Ministry of Albuquerque is to help business and professional women find their meaning, connectedness, identity, and esteem in Christ!
Our vision is threefold: 1) To be a resource, support, and encouragement to the Christian woman in the workplace,
2) To be “insiders” within our spheres of influence, to build relationships with the lost, lead them to Christ, and disciple them so they will grow strong in their faith.
3) To raise up and equip leaders in the B&P community who will invest themselves in the lives of others to multiply devoted followers of Christ.
Our Strategy:
Step 1: Faith@Work Luncheons
Developing a network of B&P women, through monthly luncheons, who have a desire to live out their faith more visibly in the workplace.
We have been holding our Faith@Work luncheons since October of 2002, and have grown from 35–40 participants to over 100 women in attendance at each one. Each month we hear a testimony from one of these women about how she has been challenged to put her faith to work in her workplace. Then we discuss how the speaker’s experience is relevant in our own lives, and how we can challenge one another to learn from it.
Step 2: Personal Ministry
Investing purposefully in the lives of B&P women, through prayer, relationship building, mentoring, and leadership opportunities.
Our goal here is to encourage, enrich, and equip women so that they will go back to their spheres of influence and invest their lives purposefully as well.
Step 3: Outreach to the community
We provide opportunities for reaching out to women in the marketplace, through workplace Bible Studies and Evangelistic lunches, offering them a glimpse of who Jesus Christ is in our lives and His relevance to their lives; in other words, being salt and light in the workplace.

Introducing Karen Warin
Introducing Karen Warin
I knew God was calling me into vocational ministry very shortly after becoming a Christian. My husband Leroy and I came to the Lord in January of 1989, and within weeks we were being discipled by Nav staff. Within two years we were leading a young couples’ Bible Study at our church and I found myself discipling women, leading mini-retreats in my home, and teaching others how to lead. This led to an opportunity to direct women’s ministry for my church where, among other things, I delighted in leading over 200 women on an annual retreat to Glorieta Conference Center for five years. In God’s perfect timing, He called me to the staff of The Navigators in 2001, and I began to develop a ministry to business and professional women in Albuquerque. One of the signature events of this ministry has been the Faith@Work luncheons that I host every month for business women throughout Albuquerque. These women come each month to hear about putting their faith to work, and then share how they see God teaching them to apply it in their own lives. Over the past five years I have met some amazing women who have shared stories of faith that blow me away! Whether its women in the church, the workplace, or in my neighborhood, I can think of no greater honor than to serve God by encouraging, enriching, and equipping the women He brings into my life. Leroy and I consider our greatest disciples to be our daughter Rebecca and our son Nicholas, who are the joy of our lives. Rebecca is 23 and Nick is 19 at the University of New Mexico and has been involved in Young Life and attended their summer camps for years. Leroy and I pray that they will have a significant impact for God’s kingdom on the next generation. And the things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, these entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also (2 Timothy 2:2).

My Prayer Requests
My Prayer Requests
Monday:
Pray for the Faith@Work luncheons that I host on the 3rd Monday of each month, here in Albuquerque. Pray that God will continue to bring women who will be encouraged and challenged to put their faith to work more effectively in the workplace. Also ask that God would keep me focused on HIS plan for this ministry, not MY plan.
Tuesday:
Pray for the women I meet with one-on-one: that they will come to know Christ in a deeper, more intimate way, that they will put their faith to work in their lives, and that they will be challenged to share what they have learned with others.
Wednesday:
Pray for the Albuquerque Metro Staff Team of which I am a part. Pray that each of us will reach people throughout the city for Christ, that we will honor God with our words and actions, and that we will raise the financial support needed to carry on the work that God has given us.
Thursday:
Ask God to hear the prayers of the moms’ prayer group I lead every Thursday. As we pray for our 26 high school and college age kids, please ask God to work in the lives of these young adults, and transform them more and more into the image of Christ. Pray that they will be equipped to become the next generation of spiritual laborers living and ministering among the lost.
Friday:
Ask God to raise up leaders and laborers who have a heart to minister to business women throughout the city, and that we will be able to meet the discipleship and ministry needs of all those who God brings us.
Saturday:
Please pray for my family: my husband Leroy, my daughter Rebecca (23), and my son Nick (19). Pray that God will continue to knit their hearts to Him, and that our relationship as a family will remain strong and supportive.
Sunday:
Pray that my relationship with Christ will always be my first priority; that I will seek Him first, and not pour out any of myself to others that does not first come from Him.
