The Joy of the Lord is My Strength
Faith@Work is a Navigators sponsored monthly luncheon for business women in Albuquerque, NM. Its mission is helping business and professional women live out their faith more intentionally in their workplaces. We do this through several different means:
• Presenting challenging messages each month from local practitioners who are learning how to live on purpose for God.
• Promoting, developing and implementing Bible Studies in the workplace for women across the city.
• Recruiting, training and utilizing volunteers in a variety of ways to reach out and connect with other business women each month at the luncheons.
Faith@Work Message, October 18, 2010; "The Joy of the Lord is My Strength" Albuquerque, New Mexico
Speaker: Sherry Pickle
Those who know Sherry Pickle would say she is full of love, life and joy! Whether she’s greeting people warmly at the door at our Faith@Work luncheons, or making us laugh til we cry as she gushes over the door prizes she hands out each month, Sherry just makes us feel good. What many people would never guess is that this has been one of the hardest years of her life! How is it possible for someone to be so full of joy in the midst of difficult circumstances?

Not surprisingly, her enthusiasm stems from her passion for her Lord and Savior. She has a personal, intimate relationship with Him that sustains her when times get tough. What stood out to me was the fact that Sherry experiences not only God’s love, power and guidance, but things that we sometimes tend to overlook: His sense of humor and His tenderness. We all laughed as she shared about waking up in the middle of the night and climbing out of bed to get her Bible and see what verse God might be revealing to her on her digital alarm clock!
The main theme of Sherry’s message last month was this: in the midst of pain, there is always hope; a spiritual prescription for relief. Just remember three things:
1. God’s promises; The Scriptures give us hope and encouragement; know His promises for you!
2. God’s presence; God says we’re to “Be still and know that He is God”; seek Him fervently.
3. God’s people; let Him comfort, teach and guide you through the godly men and women He places in your life.
The challenge for this month:
1. Find and write out one of God’s promises related to your current situation.
2. Seek God fervently in prayer regarding this promise.
3. Turn to God’s people for support, counsel and encouragement.
