The Challenge of Change

Faith@Work is a Navigators sponsored monthly luncheon for business women in Albuquerque, NM.  Its mission is helping business and professional women live out their faith more intentionally in their workplaces.  We do this through several different means:

•    Presenting challenging messages each month from local practitioners who are learning how to live on purpose for God.
•    Promoting, developing and implementing Bible Studies in the workplace for women across the city.
•    Recruiting, training and utilizing volunteers in a variety of ways to reach out and connect with other business women each month at the luncheons.

Faith@Work Message, January 23, 2012;  "The Challenge of Change" Albuquerque, NM
Speaker: Mariposa Padilla Sivage, Attorney, Sutin Thayer & Browne

“I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.” Exodus 20:2

Here’s a question for you:  What’s your Egypt?  The idol you are enslaved to, the place you don’t want to leave, the change you’re afraid to make for fear of the unknown?  One thing is certain in this life: we will all be challenged to change.

Mariposa, a wife, mom, and very busy attorney-at-law here in Albuquerque, has had to learn some hard lessons about embracing change in her own life.  She has come to see that even though change can be uncomfortable, it is often God’s avenue to freedom from the things that keep us enslaved. God calls us out of Egypt because He wants us to experience the freedom found in trusting Him!

So how do we learn to embrace change?  Mariposa believes that facing the challenges in our lives, as she did with a demanding career, a major relocation, and a life-threatening labor and delivery of her first child, produces the kind of transformation God most wants:  heart change. As her own heart has changed, she has grown closer to God, closer to those she loves and more confident in her ability to deal with whatever comes her way.

Her challenge to us last month was to let God lead us out of whatever Egypt in which we find ourselves enslaved, and begin to experience the freedom that results!
