God Comes to Faith@Work!!!

It’s hard to celebrate this holiday without acknowledging the One to whom we owe our lives, and so we invited four women to come and share how God has blessed them through the ministry of Faith@Work.

Emilee New is a 20-something, UNM graduate with a fresh start in the business world, working two jobs and trying to figure out what her contribution in life is to be. She started coming to Faith@Work about a year ago and saw an opportunity to get involved. She not only connected with her future employer through the luncheons, but made new friends and joined a focus group of young professionals eager to help develop a “YP Faith@Work.” Through personal family tragedy she has also grown deeper in her walk with God and shared the lessons she has learned with our group.

Cheryl Lueck also met her current employer through Faith@Work. Now she comes every month with her whole office to the luncheons. She shared with us a personal story of the heavy burden she carried for her son who had wandered away from the Lord.  Because of her association with our ministry, she broadened her trust in God. For the first time in her life, she broke down the wall of her private prayer life and asked the Faith@Work prayer team to pray for her son. God answered those prayers in a miraculous way, and Cheryl is now a huge advocate for our prayer team!

Glena Gebara is a business woman who has shared a message at our luncheon before.  She has encouraged many women to see their significance in Christ, not in their work.  This time she came back to share about someone else; a friend and co-worker she had been sharing Christ with and bringing to our luncheons.

Denise Mohr didn’t believe in all that “Jesus talk.” In fact, often after Glena had shared her faith with Denise, Denise would go home to her husband and make fun of Glena’s faith. She came to Faith@work with Glena because it was a free lunch and a diversion from the office. But after months of seeing Glena’s faith in action, and hearing the faith of the women at our luncheons, her heart responded to the call of Christ and she accepted Him as her Savior. Not long after that her husband became a believer as well. Now Denise brings a steady stream of friends to every luncheon.

This is a snapshot of the kingdom work God is doing in the lives of the women who attend our luncheons every month.
