Meeting God in Unexpected Places

Faith@Work is a Navigators sponsored monthly luncheon for business women in Albuquerque, NM.  Its mission is helping business and professional women live out their faith more intentionally in their workplaces.  We do this through several different means:

•    Presenting challenging messages each month from local practitioners who are learning how to live on purpose for God.
•    Promoting, developing and implementing Bible Studies in the workplace for women across the city.
•    Recruiting, training and utilizing volunteers in a variety of ways to reach out and connect with other business women each month at the luncheons.

Faith@Work Message, December 12, 2011;  "Meeting God in Unexpected Places" Albuquerque, NM
Speaker: Susan Jameson, Private Mortgage Banker, Wells Fargo Bank

“Experiencing the unexpected in our lives is about as common as gravity!”  So why are we so surprised when it happens?  With her usual humor and emotional sensitivity, Susan Jameson brought us a beautiful Christmas message last month, based on this question.

From the shepherds’ unexpected meeting of God in a manger, to our own surprise encounters with the God who loves and pursues us, history is full of God’s revelation of Himself.  He longs to make Himself known to us, and He longs for us to know Him.  He’ll do just about anything to get our attention; even an invitation to a high school reunion!

Susan’s challenge to us this Christmas was to anticipate the unexpected meetings with God in our own lives.  Instead of fearing the future, we can embrace the new and creative ways in which God will make Himself known to us.

5 things to remember:

1. LOOK for Him in unexpected places.
2. LET GO of your OWN expectations.
3. TRUST that God knows best.
4. SHARE your story of His story.
5. BE the unexpected in someone else’s life.
