November 2008 Thanksgiving
At Thanksgiving, we often pause to reflect on what we are thankful for? But what is there about a recession that might cause us to be thankful? Well…
God is recession proof! The gospel is recession proof! Marriage and family are recession proof!
Also, some of the things that I enjoy like running, mountain bike riding, and enjoying the flowers in my back yard are simple, pleasing and best of all, yes that’s right – recession proof!
So, I guess some of the most important things to me are unaffected by financial downturns. These things are precious and really do cause me to pause and give thanks. How about you? What are the simple recession proof things that you are thankful for?
Unquestionably the two big events of our lives this year were the birth of two more grandchildren. Our daughter-in-law, Amy gave birth to Augustine Johns on September 20th and then our daughter, Katrina gave birth to Kaylie DeVries on September 27th. Both births were life threatening to the moms and babies, and we are especially grateful to the Lord for His protection. We praise God for these two special babies and their moms! By the way, babies are recession proof too!!!
