July 2008
I hope that you are having an enjoyable summer. We are having a great visit with our son’s family from Alaska!
Kathy and I leave tomorrow for Colorado Springs to attend the CDM Regional Leader’s meeting returning Sunday, and would appreciate your prayers for a couple of items.
One: I have been diagnosed with cellulitis yesterday. It is a potentially serious skin infection and can move fast entering the blood stream. It is on both legs below the knees to the tops of my feet. I think that we caught it in time. I probably wouldn’t have gone in to see the Dr. as soon as I did, but with the trip and follow-on trips that we have coming up, I thought it prudent. They gave me a steroid shot and put me on prednisone for a week and antibiotics for ten days. I’m praying that the side effects will be minimal as one medication says it can cause dizziness, headaches, drowsiness and the other one cause’s sleeplessness. Please pray that I’d be comfortable and alert for our two days of meetings and that I’d be clear on a couple short presentations that I’ll be making.
Two: Even though we are making progress in raising support, our deficit is still hovering around $2,000.00. This needs to be taken care of by the end of August. While I’m traveling the next several weeks it will be a difficult to make appointments to meet with people interested in our ministry. So, I’ll try making some phone appointments. Please pray that God would wipe out the deficit and allow me to make good progress using the phone, verses face-to-face presentations.
Thanks for praying!
Warmly In Him,
Sam Johns
