To Know Christ and Make Him Known

Newness of Life

Newness of life always appears in the spring. Outside our patio window, the birds are making their annual nest in the rafters. One year they made a nest in the wreath we hung on the side of our double-door that we don't use. They had six baby birds! My roses are just about ready for their first flush of blooms too. This year our family also has a special awareness of the newness of life with the birth of our fourth grandbaby. Ashley was born to Matt and Katrina in February. Aren't I the cutest thing holding Ashley?

Even though we all look forward to springtime, getting outside, enjoying warmer days, planting in the garden, it pales in comparison with what Jesus' death, burial and resurrection means to the Christian!  I'm sure that God picked this season to help prepare us to more deeply understand renewal. Rom. 6:4 says:

“Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.”

Newness of life isn't only an event with Jesus rising from the dead. Jesus eternally lives and fellowships with the Father. Believers also enjoy resurrection living. We don't just experience a salvation event, but the eternal Jesus lives within us! He renews us as we pray, take in His word and walk obediently.

When I observe how nature rejuvenates itself, it is a reminder that because of what Jesus did, Christians can enjoy daily renewal as we fellowship with Him.
