Indeed, while following the way of Thy judgments, O Lord, we have waited for Thee eagerly; Thy name, even Thy memory, is the desire of our souls. Isaiah 26:8
Hal and Karen have been ministering with The Navigators since 1970. They served in New Mexico, Alaska, Hawaii, and California before moving to Arizona in 1992.
While visiting several reservations in Northern Arizona, their hearts were stirred by the need for disciple makers to serve in Native America. The vision of “oaks of righteousness,” from Isaiah 61, moved them to pioneer N.A.I.D.M.—The Navigators' North American Indian Discipleship Ministry—in 1998. Hal and Karen mentored the first Native American to join Navigator staff: Delphina Bedonie Johnson, who now, with her husband Tom, leads the ministry.
Hal and Karen continue to use their gifts to help lay the foundations for many generations through teaching, training, and modeling. They are active in their local church where Karen serves as Director of Assimilation and Women’s Ministries. Hal and Karen also serve as mentor/coach at Phoenix Seminary. They are the proud parents of three adult children and four wonderful grandchildren.
