Our Family
Jack and Judy at home
Jack and Judy are empty-nesters! (That's a kinder word for "upper middle-aged!")
We have two gorgeous daughters in whom we delight! Gina is a broadcast producer who spends her time between Portland and New York. Three years ago she took a huge step and began doing free-lance work from her home and has truly made a go of it! We enjoy following her edgy and creative ideas, some of which she lets us borrow for ministry! Gina is our traveler and has spent some years in Siberia and Hong Kong and has traveled extensively in Europe, South America, and beyond. As a little girl, Gina always amazed us with her ability to take a zillion "found objects" and, with great focus and attention to detail, make something amazing from them. Yep, that about summarizes her work today!
Our youngest daughter Rebekah is ALSO a producer!!! She has co-produced four of the most beautiful grandchildren in the world! She is our singer, fantastic baker, and also the best barista in all of East County! (We espresso-drinkers KNOW!) Jon, her husband, is a gift of God. The son-in-law we prayed for. He is a patina artist in a bronze sculpture foundry, a wonderful artist in his own right, a cook, a great photographer, "palindrome producer," and most importantly, a man of God with the patience of Job. He and Rebekah are great parents.
Saving the best 'til last, may we introduce you to:
Giacomo - 6, Luca - 4+, and Mia Giovanna - 3 & Gianpaolo - 1. (Yes, there's an Italian theme there!) These kids are God's consolation for old age. They make a road-weary heart feel young again! We visit them frequently with our "pockets full of rockets, space-guys, and candy" for laughs and mental therapy!
Jack and Judy: Off Duty . . .
Where
will you find us when we are taking a break? Almost always together!
Usually drinking espresso, talking about a good book (or reading one),
discussing a new film (or watching one), or frequenting any number of
favorite haunts: a book store, thrift shop, a new unexplored
neighborhood to find a new coffee bar or cafe. Or maybe KISSING! Like
on top of the Great Wall of China! (see picture)
Jack takes time to practice guitar, continues Italian language learning, listens to music, reads voraciously, and participates in Olympic napping!
Judy is still "learning" to take time for painting, pottery, writing, reading for pleasure, and creative projects for the garden. She and Jack want to declare a once-a-month Sabbatical Day for the Arts.
We both like to cook and love to travel%#8212near or far! And life doesn't get any better than when we are playing with our grandchildren! We also like to work out at the gym together . . . actually we like "having" worked out! Past tense!
Our "off-duty" time is actually the time we best cultivate our gifts for working with those "missing from God's Kingdom." All that we LOVE to do has always been our best and most natural channel for connecting with others.
