Mill Creek, WA - Pacific Northwest Region Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ. For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me. Colossians 1:28-29
Ready for adventure … yet all alone and desperate for God. That describes my (Philip) transition to college in the fall of 1992. I wanted desperately to be a “good Christian” and did everything I could to behave as one. Confused and wanting more, I knew I needed help. A campus ministry staff came alongside me to help me understand that God wanted to transform my heart, not necessarily my behavior.
Kendell’s story is similar, and after we graduated, we went to work in the marketplace with a desire to invest in others. We were invited to join Navigator staff by friends who simply asked us to join them in taking the Gospel to the college campus and to trust God to transform hearts, much like He was continuing to do in our lives.
Together, Kendell and I have served with The Navigators since 1999, the first eight years at Texas Tech University. We moved to Seattle in August, 2007 to serve as the Pacific Northwest Regional Leader.
Our desire is to help students live for something far greater than themselves. Most are indulging their desires—cheap desires. We want them to see that, as Christ captures their heart and begins to transform their life, He gives new desires—God-given and purposeful desires—that are far bigger than self. Desires like living for His kingdom!
