For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.
1 Timothy 4:8
My freshman year I arrived at Kent  State University as a Spanish Education major and a pole vaulter on the track and field team. I was ready to be a NCAA champion and pursue my athletic dreams—but God had different plans for my life. Throughout my freshman year The Navigators provided me with a mentor and a community that helped me to discover what faith really meant to me. As a result of this guidance I began to understand the difference between living for the fulfillment of a good grade or winning a competition and living filled by Christ.

During my sophomore year I struggled with leg pain and the result was a diagnosis of compartment syndrome. Four surgeries later the problem was not fixed and I was faced with being told I could no longer compete. Although those times were very hard to go through, God was able to use my suffering and brokenness to restore me and use me for His kingdom. Being injured created a unique opportunity to minister and pour into the lives of my fellow teammates as well as other female athletes. Through leading a female athlete Bible study and discipling several girls, I watched God change hearts! What an amazing sight! And it wasn't just their hearts that He was changing. God had filled me with a passion to lead and mentor other athletes through the challenges and excitements that college athletes experience and ultimately into life long relationships with Christ.

On campus, I'll serve with The Navigators Collegiate ministry called EDGE Corps (Evangelism, Discipleship, Growth, Experience). EDGE Corps is for recent college graduates who have chosen to minister one to two years on college campuses with a peer team, led by an experienced campus missionary staff. Our job is to interact with students regularly, build relationships, lead Bible studies, disciple believers, and tell students about the good news of Jesus Christ.  I am so excited to begin this journey at a campus in Southern California!
