Ministry Highlights

We have both been able to share with key people in many venues how to have daily time with God. This is a vital practice that gives God access to our lives so he can lead as well as empower to do his will. Bob's presentation to Sunday school class officers led to an opportunity to influence the staff of a major Christian organization.

We're hearing  how God has used the "Time with God" presentation to revitalize their walk with God and empower them to help others. One person wrote, "You put into words and method what I actually do; but having it in black and white is so clarifying, and I see how easy it is to share with others." Teaching faithful people to teach others is what it’s all about!

Teaching in Haiti

A 3-week trip to Haiti allowed Bob to teach concepts in discipleship to Haitian pastors at the OMS Emmaus Biblical Seminary in Cap-Haitien. In other words, he did there what we do here: help pastors learn to make disciples by not only preaching but also by training individuals. He taught and modeled 2 Timothy 2: 2, "What you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also."

The director of the seminary wrote after our return: "I deeply appreciate your intense willingness to serve and come to grips with the real issues on our campus. We need more than courses being taught. We need the kind of emphasis you have brought and I am deeply grateful. If this ministry fits in with what God is continuing to call you to do we would be grateful to have you come and teach it again and again. These next few years will be the deciding factor in the future of the Haitian church."

One-to-One

Bob continues to meet with pastors and other key leaders. Just recently, a pastor said, "I've been percolating some ideas I need to process with you." Another says frequently, "You must have the gift of knowledge; I feel like I learn something every time we're together."

Another pastor wrote: "It is unfortunate, but your very job is a testimony that many of us—even as pastors—have not been trained to do basic discipleship. We can parse Greek and Hebrew, but fail to teach people where the index is in their Bibles. Keep up the GOOD work."

June has continued to develop leaders both here in Colorado and the Southeast through one-to-one relationships in person and by phone. One young woman has been leading practical Bible studies in her neighborhood and is already seeing some of the women she has mentored begin to encourage others in their walk with God.
