Steve and Kathy Brown have been serving Jesus through The Navigators since their college days. They have been married 26 years and on staff 27 years.
Kathy came to Christ in college (1972) and met The Navigators in grad school in MS. She came on staff in 1981 ministering with Terry and Sherry Cook at Ole Miss and at the University of South Carolina in Columbia - where she met Steve.
Steve grew up in a Navy family and came to Christ during his freshman year (1970) at the University of Minnesota. A Navigator led him to Christ and discipled him. In 1983 he was appointed Navigator staff and moved to Columbia, SC, for his first assignment where he and Kathy met and 13 months later were married.
Since then they have served:
- 2 ½ years as the Eastern Division Administrator living in Colorado Springs and launching the 2:7 Series ministry at their church. (1985 – 1987)
- 10 years in Orlando, FL, where they served as the Florida, Georgia, and Alabama Administrator, ministered at the Naval Nuclear Power School and as Director of Discipleship at their Church, and joined the People Resources Team as the Team Coordinator. (1987 – 1997)
- 17 years ministering with the People Resources Team (PRT) in Colorado Springs – focused on caring for Navigator staff. For the last 7-8 years overseeing staff sabbaticals, relational healing, staff reassignment process, and overseeing the training of Navigator field staff to care for other Nav staff in PRTish ways – i.e. ministering below the waterline. In October 2010, Steve assumed the role as Director of Operations for PRT. (1994 – present)
They have four children: David (24), Katie (22), Paul (19), and Alex (16).
