Expanding Opportunities
Dear Friends,
Last spring I spoke to colleagues and other missionaries on how God has sustained my family for more than 24 years. I shared biblical principles and lessons God has taught me. His grace always sustains us, even in the midst of trying circumstances. Though we wanted to resign many times due to lack of finances, God did not let us proceed.
In May, The Navigators sponsored an appreciation luncheon on our behalf to help us become fully funded. Over sixty of our personal friends and family came together to celebrate God’s provision for meeting our needs. At the celebration, we shared about our current funding needs, which included a ministry opportunity for me to return to Africa.

Back to Africa
In July, a pastor from Maryland and I flew to Africa to explore ministry opportunities in Kenya and to help establish the Church Discipleship Ministry in Harare, Zimbabwe.
For two weeks, we visited discipleship small groups in churches, gave spiritual growth workshops to church leaders, and dialogued with believers regarding the spread of the gospel and its impact in the area. The depth of Christ in the people we met impressed both of us. It seemed easy to work with church leaders who had a heartfelt desire to see discipleship happen within the local church.
Prayer Requests
The last several months have been very challenging for us as a family. Thankfully, we are still standing in light of some tremendous odds. We praise the Lord for delivering us out of each major hurdle we have faced. Psalm 34:19 says: “Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all. As you remember us before the Lord, please pray for us.
- Alicia’s father is hospitalized and awaiting placement for long-term care.
- Her youngest brother passed away in June due to cancer. Thankfully, we had an opportunity to share the Gospel with him several times before he died.
- Pray that God would grant us the grace to balance ministry and family responsibilities amidst challenging circumstances.
