A Word from Marilyn

A New Season
by Marilyn Coffield
I
am writing this in autumn, my favorite time of the year. I love how God
shows off His splendor with gorgeous colors, crisp mornings, and
falling leaves. Seasons were God’s idea. There is, of course, a
compliment to the womanhood that connects us all and weaves us through
the many seasons that we share. For this short season of my life, I am stepping forward to help steer the transition of the National Women’s Ministry to becoming the National Women’s Network.
What is the National Women’s Network?
The origin of the word “network” is “knotted fabric + work.” Webster’s definition continues, “it is paral-lel threads crossing at regular intervals, fastened to each other, and as in a broadcast network they are communi-cating and operating as a unit.” We are calling part of our purpose “netweaving,” weaving relationships and concerns, helping to be part of the glue that connects and communicates together within the Regions and to other Kingdom work. The women involved in the National Women’s Network have a “home” somewhere else, such as a Navigator Mission or Ministry, and volunteer their time with the Network.
What Do We Do?
Our Purpose Statement reads, The focus of the National Women’s Network (NWN) is to partner with the Missions, Ministries, Networks, and National Functions of The Navigators to advocate for and influence the development and empowering of Navigator women.
The NWN is hoping to understand some of the seasonal or ministry needs you are experiencing and look for ways to come alongside to help or encourage.
Currently, there are two teams of women serving with the NWN. The first is a Transition Planning Team comprised of: Marilyn Coffield (Coordinator), Patti Holechek (Finances), Maryanna Weeks (Admin Assistant), Peggy Reynoso (Development), Judie Crouse, Margo Balsis, Pam Darnell, Carrie Wagner, Jane Berry (Advi-sor), Joanna Cinanni (Prayer Support).
The other team is comprised of 11 women who serve on the newly formed Cross-Mission Regional Leadership Teams (CMRLT). The women on this team are listed by region in the box to the right. These women will act as a liaison between NWN and their regional team and you, our staff women. If you are not sure in which Region you are located, view the Regional map on NavCentral.
How Can You Be Involved?
We would be delighted if you would take the time to connect with the CMRLT woman in your region and give her feedback on the questions listed under “We would like to know... ” Contact information for each woman is in the box to the right.
God has encouraged me with Psalm 90:17: “Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us; and confirm for us the work of our hands” (NASB).
I’m excited about the “new things” God is doing and I wish you great blessing in whatever season of life this finds you. Feel free to call or e-mail me with questions or comments at (910) 867-8210 or Marilynlc@earthlink.net.
Marilyn and her husband, Dave, live in Fayetteville, North Carolina, and minister with the Military Mission. She is joyfully anticipat-ing the birth of a second grandchild in December.
