Ministry Snapshot

Recently, Char Reehm (Military Staff, Monterey, California) held a women’s retreat, during which she played a video of John Lynch speaking at The Navigators’ National Staff Conference in Tampa. John’s message was about God’s grace using the illustration of the “Room of Good Intentions and the Room of Grace” and also about the masks we wear to protect ourselves. Char gave a short introduction to the video, weaving in some of her own testimony, and then played the DVD.

Afterward, plain, white, full-faced masks were handed out to the women who wrote on the mask their own “masks” they would like to take off and leave behind at the retreat. They were then offered the opportunity to walk outside into a grove of redwood trees to drop the mask in a basket. There they found a door labeled “Door of Grace” through which they could walk and where someone was waiting to give them a hug.

What an effective way to communicate to women the love and grace of God and to give them the opportunity to make application from what they heard. Thank you, Char, for the great idea!
