A Women's Ministry Update
By Jane Berry
After two years of planning, the National Women's Conference is just
around the corner. We will spend April 21-24 at the beautiful Town and
Country Resort and Conference Center in San Diego. I praise God for a
great conference team who are working very hard to make the conference
a great experience for all of us.We've planned great workshops and plenary sessions that will help us all to "Come Away to Refresh Your Soul, Renew Your Love, and Revive Your Passion." The theme of this conference is significant for us as women because there is much to do and to be in order to fully participate in our calling as Navigators. A refreshed heart for spiritual transformation, a renewed love for God and His Word, and a revived passion for our calling and our ministry are important in our lives as women.
We are really looking forward to a great time in San Diego. If you're interested in attending, please contact Pam Smith.
Ministry Update and Prayer:
In January, I joined about 30 others in attending the Realignment Task Force meeting at Navigator headquarters. It was a very significant time with staff from across the entities. While I wore the "hat" of Women's Ministry Director, I also wore the hat of an African American staff member. I believe we accomplished a lot as the meeting was facilitated by use of large and small groups. I sense that the National Leadership team is trying to benefit from many voices as they wrestle with us through structuring the organization so that it aids us in accomplishing our calling.
February 20-26, I participated in my second Nav-U just outside of Tucson, Arizona. This was a forum that exposed staff leaders within Navigator entities to the Navigator Core and it's implication for our lives and ministries. We will hear more about our "Core" at the women's conference.
In March, I will support my husband Rich as he directs the African American Staff Development Conference in the Raleigh/Durham area of North Carolina. Rich has worked hard to expand the horizons of the entity by bringing together many Navigators who work in urban areas. This conference gets stronger each year in participation and enthusiasm. I will have a special time to present the women's ministry to the combined group as well as a special session with women.
Please be in prayer for me and others involved in the National Women's Ministry, as we partner with staff and entity leaders on various initiatives throughout the Navigator work.
