Missions and the Call of God

Introduction: There is much confusion on the concept of "calling." The Bible is clear that we are called first to God, and second to His service, but how do we know what it is?
  1. What do you think is the difference in corporate calling and individual calling in scripture? For example, we are all called to Jesus (Matthew 9:13), but only some are called to Macedonia (Acts 16:9-10).

  2. What can you observe and conclude about God's calling from the call of the following individuals? OBSERVE CONCLUDE
    Abraham (Genesis 12:1-3)
    Moses (Exodus 3:1-10)
    Isaiah (Isaiah 6:1-8)
    Jeremiah (Jeremiah 1:4-10)
    Disciples (Matthew 4:18-22)
    Paul (Acts 9:1-19)

  3. What tools does God provide to help us discern our individual calling (His will for us personally)?
    Proverbs 3:5-6
    Proverbs 16:9-10
    Isaiah 30:21
    Romans 12:1-2
    Ephesians 4:11-13
    Philippians 4:6-7
    II Timothy 3:16-17

  4. Psalm 139:16 and Ephesians 2:10 speak of a design and destiny for our life. How do you think this relates to God's calling for our life or a specific decision in our life?

  5. We are corporately called to missions (Matthew 28:19-20), but how do we find our personal contribution in getting the Gospel to the ends of the earth (Isaiah 49:6)? Write out what you speculate or sense that call might be for you personally?
