About Us

The USIMG (US International Ministries Group) is the missions branch of the U.S. Navigators.
The Navigators is an international partnership, called to advance the Gospel among the nations for the glory of God. We do this by winning the lost and helping them build their lives in Christ, so that the Gospel will bear fruit and flourish through successive generations.  Today, more than 1100 Navigators foreign missionaries, of 52 nationalities, serve in 111 countries and 161 languages. Among these are 24 of 44 countries identified as Islamic, and 30 of the 59 countries in the 10/40 Window.

The USIMG began in the early 1990s, growing out of a small-scale missions department, as it became apparent that God wanted to bring together a medley of Navigator missions initiatives into a composite whole. Navigators leaders were burdened for and endorsed an umbrella structure to centralize and orchestrate an increasingly complex and far-flung missions mix from the United States.

From the very beginning, The Navigators have had the world on our hearts. In the early morning hours during the spring of 1944, Dawson Trottman, founder of The Navigators, began to pray for every nation of the world. God gave him several promises from Isaiah, including "I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring, and my blessing on your descendants. They will spring up like grass in a meadow." (from Isaiah 44:3-5).  In 1948, God began to answer Dawson's prayer as The Navigators' first foreign missionary boarded a plan for East Asia.

The Navigators ranks in the top 10 percent of foreign mission societies in the number of foreign missionaries in active service. But we are not satisfied simply with numbers. Much work remains to be done. The "easy" part of missions has been accomplished. The most difficult task remains. Billions are beyond the reach of the gospel, most in countries restricted to traditional missionary endeavors. So how do we reach the unreachable?

First of all, The Navigators is committed to strengthening our discipling ministries in the countries in which they already have a presence, eventually making them missionary sending bases. Second, we seek to expand into areas in which traditional missionary access is denied and the gospel is meeting active resistance. This task will require unusually adventuresome people and creative methods of access.

Mission: Moving Mountains merged with The Navigators in 2007. Mission: Moving Mountains is a missions agency built on the pillars of discipleship and development. Discipling for Development is the heartbeat of M:MM ministry, where community development is carried out through the methodology of Christian discipleship. We believe that the best development happens in the context of discipling relationships, and discipling is most effective when physical and spiritual issues are integrated in the context of a community.
