Mission:
Moving Mountains sent a residential mentoring team to the Kwale
District in 1992. Since then, Digo Christians have been empowered
to take over project activities. In 2004 an offical group of five Digo
Christians began work in their community.
The Digo people combine Islam and animism in their religious beliefs;
it’s common for them to appease the spirits to bring about healing or
prevent forthcoming problems. Team members testify to God’s power to
overcome witchcraft and redeem their fellow Digo. They are committed to
helping their own people see God’s light. The group’s vision for Kwale
is "To facilitate the wholistic transformation of Digo communities
through Discipling for Development."
The team soon will be phasing out of the community they began with
because the village leaders have been trained to empower this community
to address their own problems. The team is currently selecting
two new communities in which to begin the work of mobilizing community
members. They want to see these communities become all God intends them
to be!
M:MM sends a team of International Mentors from East Africa
approximately 5-6 times per year.. These Mentors have years of
experience with Discipling for Development in Kenya and Uganda. They
work with these Digo Christians, empowering them with the skills they
need to reach Digo communities. Would you be
willing to partner with us to reach the Digo people by supporting this
project monthly?
