Wild Game Dinner UpdateThe aroma of wild game entrees, the lively beat of African music, and an atmosphere of warm fellowship greeted over 250 people who arrived at our Mission: Moving Mountains 2009 Wild Game Dinner at St. Patrick’s Church in Edina, MN on Saturday evening, March 21. The evening began with an hour of shopping in our colorful African Marketplace and Silent Auction. Then we all filled our plates at a buffet line prepared for our enjoyment by chef Doug Polich and his team. Those who attended enjoyed hearing about Blair Anderson’s involvement as a guest mentor with us in Nigeria. Gary Hipp and Joe Fry introduced us to the challenge of changing the worldview of people. Our problem as Christian workers who are busy with cross-cultural ministry is that we are not always mindful of the impact at the very core of people’s lives. We can grossly overestimate the impact of one encounter or a workshop or teaching with someone who has lived their whole life seeing the world through a different lens. The reason why our mentors do ongoing coaching of African teams in Discipling for Development is not only to stretch their worldview, but to see God re-mold their worldview into a permanent new shape for His glory (Romans 12:2). Thank you to all who gave a donation to our ministry at this event. If you will be in or near Minneapolis/St. Paul next Spring we’d love to be your host at our next Wild Game Dinner. You’ll be glad you came. |
