Meet Our Military Director

Dave and Melo Mead

Dave and Melo MeadWhen Dave and Melo Mead first met in the summer of 1980 at a discipleship seminar, only God knew that they would spend a lifetime laboring together. In the fall of 1982, Dave led several of his soldiers to the Lord while he was deployed to the Sinai and Melo immediately became the main supplier of Bible study and discipleship materials. It was obvious that Dave greatly admired her heart for God and people (and smitten by her beauty) began asking the Lord for a more permanent arrangement…they were married on December 30, 1983.

Dave came to faith while a freshman at the United States Military Academy and Melo grew up in a godly minister’s family. Dave claims the Navigators literally ran into him while playing a pick-up basketball game at West Point. Chris Mogensen was recruiting for a Bible study and connected with Dave. They faithfully met for Three and a half years until Dave graduated and headed to Fort Campbell, KY. Fast forward five years, now with a lovely bride and young son, Dave left the Army (although he stayed in the Army Reserves) and came on staff in December 1986.

And the journey continues…serving four years at Vanderbilt University, mobilized for Desert Shield/Storm, called to Nancy, France for four years, then spending the last twelve years at West Point with a recent six month tour of duty in Kuwait; they are now in Colorado Springs.

The Meads have two children; Matt (22) graduated from Messiah College and has a passion for film-making, and Bethany (20) is in the ROTC program at Troy University.

Melo and Dave highly value relationships and have experienced God using lifelong friendships in the advancement of His Gospel and Kingdom into everyday life. Melo enjoys painting and her garden and Dave likes sports, reading and fun.
