Chuck Stecker - The Power of Rites of Passage
October 10-12, 2008 View basic itinerary (subject to change) Raising and Launching Godly Young Adults…..Not Just Good Teenagers One of the most powerful, least understood and rarely used tools for parents are clear and intentional Rites of Passage. Passages are taking place in our children’s lives but as parents we have ignored, or not understood, the significance of each of them. This weekend will give parents a clear understanding of rites of passage and how to launch their children into Godly adulthood--not just get through “the teen years.”
About the conference: In his own words Glen Eyrie: Hi Chuck! Your upcoing conference offers a unique approach to parenting. How would you describe to someone what this conference will focus on? Chuck Stecker: This conference will equip parents and leaders to understand the need and power of Rites of Passage for their children and in addition, how to launch their children on a path to Godly adulthood. GE: Kind of a "raising tomorrow today" approach. Who do you consider your main audience for this conference? CS: Parents of teens or pre-teens, youth leaders, and pastors. GE: Why are you passionate about this subject? CS: Nine out of ten Christian families will see their own children leave the church and this generation [that leaves] is not coming back. Parents are the primary factors in their children being grounded in a faith that they can live with where they live, work and play. I want to see that happen for a new generation of believers. GE: What are 2 things you want the attendees to take away from your conference? CS: Teen years are for preparing your child for Godly adulthood….not just to “get through.” Also, that clear and intentional Rites of Passage are some of the most powerful tools parents have to help their children find their own faith. GE: To help us get to know you a little bit better, what’s one thing in your day-to-day life that is normal for you but is pretty unusual for most people? CS: I love to sing when no one is around or listening and I do so when I don’t think anyone is within earshot. Phone registration for this conference is currently available. SESSION TOPICS (subject to change):
- Session 1: Where are we and how did we get here??
- Session 2: Where do we want to go and can anyone tell us how to get there?
- Session 3: Spiritual mile markers along the way.
