About the conference: In her own words

Glen Eyrie: Thanks for speaking to us today , Joan! Can you share what your upcoming women's conference will focus on?

Joan Mathisrud:
The focus will be on the fact that God's ways are greater than our ways, and His timing is not always our timing.

GE: Who do you consider your main audience for this conference?

JM:
This conference is for all military wives, all ages.

GE: You are not a military wife yourself. Why are you so passionate about this subject?

JM:
Several years ago, the Lord laid this special group of women on my heart. Believing that they are today's "unsung heroes", I began praying for opportunities to share a touch of God's love with the ladies who make uncompromising, unselfish sacrifices for the men who serve and fight to defend the freedom of our country.

GE: What are 2 things you want attendees to take away from your conferences?

JM:
I would like the ladies to be encouraged, knowing that our God's plan for them is perfect and complete, and I would love for them to leave the conference feeling free and light-hearted.

GE: Thanks so much, Joan. We look forward to this unique conference this coming winter!

Online and phone registration for this conference are currently available.

JOAN'S SESSION TOPICS (subject to change):
  • 20/20 Vision: Often times it is difficult to stay focused on Christ when life is throwing darts at us. This session will address three major distractions that tend to cloud our vision, and a "counter attack."
  • This Little Light of Mine: As we march "Over Hill, Over Dale" as soldiers of the cross, our life is to be a beacon of light in a dark world.
  • Say's Easy, Does Hard: Based on the story of Sari and Abram, we will learn what it means to be a faithful follower of Christ.
  • For Such A Time As This: Military wives are often called to go to unfamiliar places, but as we look at the life of Esther, we will discover that God can do amazing things in our lives, For Such A Time As This.

WORKSHOPS BY LOCAL LEADERS:
  • Forgiveness—Chaplain P.K. Roberts, female chaplain at Fort Carson
  • Boundaries—Susan Hankins, Navigator Military Ministry
  • Loneliness and Loss— Milly Briseno, widow, US Army

SPEAKER

Joan Mathisrud has a special place in her heart for the women who quietly and inconspicuously serve our country. Believing that our military wives are today's "unsung heroes," Joan began praying for opportunities to minister to the ladies who make uncompromising, unselfish sacrifices for the men who serve and fight to defend the freedom of our country. God heard Joan's prayer and answered in a mighty way. He has provided numerous opportunities for Joan to share a special message of encouragement and love to military wives, active duty women and missionaries, throughout Japan and Korea, speaking at Protestant Women of the Chapel retreats and special events.

As a pastor's wife and mother of two grown children, Joan is a partner in ministry with her husband of over 30 years. They live in Tustin, CA, after serving as church planters in Northern Saskatchewan, Canada, for five years.
