Asian American Ministries to Cambodia: The Power of Prayer

The Power of Prayer
Cambodian Teams Meet For The First Time!
GOD has been raising up two ministries to Cambodians simultaneously. One in Long Beach (back row) and one in Phnom Penh (front row.) Back row (left to right): Ken Kong, Rasy Lieu, Dana & Tom Steers, Dave Wenzel. Front row (left to right): Nimol, Sineath, Sophor, Samnong, Ammi (from the Philippines), and Susie and Herry, country leaders from Indonesia.
In 1995, I had the opportunity to join a team with World Vision, that was invited to intercede in Cambodia.  To help me in my weakness of praying and to pray without ceasing for the lost Cambodian people, God gave me a quirky idea.  I took a pocketful of mustard seeds and everywhere I went I spread the seeds.  From the bustling streets of Phnom Penh to the enormous Angkor Wat temple, I groaned and pleaded “Grow Your Kingdom.  Let Your Kingdom come.  Raise up laborers.” as I sprinkled seeds along my walk.

Last year another opportunity arose to travel to Cambodia, this time to pray for family members of key leaders within our ministry.  One morning, I met four young Cambodian leaders who are involved with our new Navigator ministry in Cambodia.  They each shared how they came to Christ and how the gospel flowed into their families.  All of their conversions have occurred since 1995.  All of a sudden I remembered my 1995 groaning and pleading via the mustard seeds.  Overwhelmed, I started weeping as I was blessed to see, first hand from God, the results of my prayers.

Yes, prayer is the ministry.  Prayer changes things.  Above all else, let’s keep praying.
