Major Areas of Need

Eagle Lake is trusting God for faithful men and women to minister to kids through giving to help enhance the camp experience. We cannot do it on our own - we need the financial and prayerful support of parents, past campers and staff, and people who have a heart for Eagle Lake Camp! Would you pray about helping? Cabins 

As is the case in most organizations, continued growth brings both more challenges and opportunities. Eagle Lake had been using Army tents for many years to serve as camper housing units. These tents worked well for many years, but with time comes deterioration… So God provided the opportunity and ingenuity to build cabins!

Cabins create a safe, fun place for kids to learn about God and develop new, meaningful friendships with their cabinmates! Each cabin is a 12x16-foot structure with eight, built-in bunks and a 12x10-foot covered porch for Bible study and group times. We project the cabins (45 in all!) will have a life expectancy of over 30 years and cost approximately $10,000 each. Consider this statistic: One cabin holding seven campers for ten weeks every summer for just 20 years means 1,400 kids impacted. Can you think of a more phenomenal return on any investment?

During one particular week at camp, an entire table of girls could not stop talking about how "cool" the cabins were while eating their lunch. Ellen and Mallory told us, "The cabins seem warmer when it's windy. The beds don't seem to squeak or move, and when you're on the top bunk, the roof probably doesn't lean on you like in the tent. The cool part is the benches around the deck because you can do quiet times and play games."

We agree, but we can only build as funds are available. We have successfully built 37 cabins but have been unable to finish due to a lack of funds. 8 more cabins (for a total of 45) would allow us to house our maximum camper capacity each summer and allow every kid the safest and best Eagle Lake experience possible.

We are trusting God to provide a team of people to help us continue the incredible ministry of Eagle Lake through on-site cabins! The following is needed to successfully complete this project:

Staff Housing

For any camp, the staff is the backbone of a successful program. At Eagle Lake, our full-time and summer support staff have faithfully served in the current conditions for over 30 years. After years of pushing off our staff housing problems to the bottom of the project list, Eagle Lake recognizes the urgency of addressing this need. 

Currently we have 4 mobile homes that date back to the late 1960’s. These were first used as temporary offices at The Navigators’ Headquarters in Colorado Springs but were moved up to camp in 1973 as temporary staff housing (the plan was to get new housing in 3 years). Years later, they are still here! These mobile homes at camp have been through many harsh winters and have been filled with different families or multiple single staff during the summer. These homes have served Eagle Lake well; they have been at camp for over 35 years! 

Our goal is to build a new staff lodge that will give us the versatility to accommodate the changing family sizes at Eagle Lake. This building will have three studio apartments, four one-bedroom apartments, and four sleeping lofts. Many of these rooms have lockable doors between them to give us the maximum amount of flexibility possible.
