Dawson's Dunamis Clubs Revived
Navigators founder Dawson Trotman began his ministry life with young men, calling the small groups that formed, "Dunamis" clubs. Dunamis is a Greek word that means "power."
Well, Dunamis is being revived on the campus of Florida State University through the efforts of NavStaff Joel Helms. At FSU, a group of men meet weekly to discuss their commitments to God and each other. Those commitments are daily, written quiet times; prayer alone and with a partner; Scripture memory; and sharing their faith.
"Check out what God is doing through this consistent commitment," says Joel. "One guy, Jacob, has been going through 1 Corinthians, and after reading Chapter 7 on marriage, he realizes that his relationship with his girlfriend is not based on God's will - that his girlfriend was becoming too dependent on him and not God. So Jacob calls it off. Three years of dating, and he calls it off. That's commitment."
