To Know Christ and Make Him Known

A Gospel Road Trip

"God is at work! He is looking for people who are willing to partner with Him."

This is how my friend Randy felt after our "Get 'er Done" weekend this spring. Six college guys and I traveled five hours from the University of Minnesota in Duluth to Fargo, North Dakota, for a "faith adventure trip."

The purpose of the trip was to have opportunities to share the Gospel and to build relationships in our group through the "road trip" experience. Plus we had just finished a Bible study in which I encouraged the young men to take risks in their faith, and we wanted an experience similar to that of the disciples-that sense of being "sent out" to spread the Gospel. Since I had friends in Fargo, it was a logical destination.

The week before our trip I received two checks for the exact amount needed for fuel and other expenses. The students didn't have to use any of their own money. We took this as a confirmation that the trip was something God wanted us to do.

Upon arriving in Fargo Friday night, we met up with another Navigator staff member. After spending Saturday morning in the Word and prayer, we departed in teams of two for an afternoon of spiritual conversations on all three of the Fargo-Moorhead campuses.

At one point, we were having a hard time finding anyone to approach. The student unions were nearly deserted. Then, Brandon suggested we stake out the bathrooms. By the end of the day, we all enjoyed the privilege of talking about Jesus with someone.

The guys returned to Duluth having experienced God in a new way. Here are some of their comments:

"It's amazing, fulfilling, and comforting to live moment by moment in prayer about what is before you in life, whatever that may be." -Matt

"I felt reluctant to travel for the purpose of sharing His Gospel. Yet, I obeyed, and in so doing God allowed me to speak to men of a different culture. By simply obeying, praying, and following God, He led the way for conversation and caused my heart to grow and gain a better understanding and appreciation for all His people." -Brandon

"God impressed upon me (again) how important it is to listen to people. People want to share their spiritual stories. We usually don't hear them because we don't ask." -Kyle

"Starting a spiritual conversation is easy. Asking questions and listening to understand are very rewarding and effective." -Greg

"It is good for groups of men to take initiative together." -Randy

Matt summarized the trip for us when he said, "God is faithful when we gather together in prayer for one common purpose: to make Him known to the nations."
