What We Are About
Darrell Sanders
A critical part of Jesus' mission statement is "I will build my church" (Matthew 16:18). Our Lord has been conducting this Mission for more than 2000 years.
.
Our Purpose
.The Church Discipleship Ministry (CDM) of The Navigators is called and committed to this same mission. The purpose of CDM is "the transformation of people into Christlikeness through the development of intentional disciplemaking churches" in the U.S. and around the world.
We believe the Lord's intent is to significantly use local churches in helping people live transformed lives as His disciples. In this process, CDM is committed to serve and enrich churches that desire to intentionally make disciples.
.
Enabling Environments
.Most pastors and leaders desire for disciplemaking to become core to the mission of their church. But in many cases there is neither an enabling environment nor strength of resources to encourage this development.
Often the activities of the church do not help accomplish its vision, and sometimes even work against it. Pastors and leaders can feel trapped and unsure of how to carry out the burdens the Lord has placed on their hearts.
Those in church leadership know that less than five percent of all new converts to Christ come from outside the church. Statistics reveal that we are seeing some inside the church come to faith, but that we are having little impact on those outside. Jesus came "to seek and save those who are lost." This is certainly a great part of what He means when he speaks of building my church. Outreach must become core to all true disciplemaking efforts.
The challenges before the church are tremendous. We must have a clear vision and mission if we are to strive for genuine spiritual transformation in people. We must develop leaders equipped with vision, a passion for Christ, and discipling skills if we hope to see generations of fruitful disciples involved in reaching the world for Christ. Many pastors feel the weight of having to accomplish all of this on their own.
The Church Discipleship Ministry is called to serve pastors and church leaders in these and other critical areas of ministry. The Intentional Disciplemaking Church Process and tools are designed to help you and your congregation discover and fulfill the mission God has given you.
CDM staff and Ministry Partners focus on helping local churches in these major areas:
- Developing and implementing their vision and mission
- Growing leaders who help accomplish the mission of the church
- Increasing fruitfulness in outreach to those without Christ
- Implementing an intentional spiritual growth process
- Developing a fruitful and integrated small group ministry
- Developing a life-to-life ministry approach throughout the church
The Navigators Church Discipleship Ministry has more than one hundred well-trained staff and partners. Many are located in key metropolitan areas around the U.S.
Our desire is to serve and resource you in making disciples for Christ. Although we provide materials, tools and seminar training, our approach to ministry is more relational, life-to-life. We are available to partner with you and your church in the work of the Great Commission, in "the building of the church." Let us know how we can serve you.
.
Our Vision
.Intentional disciplemaking churches in every Metro area and community developing multitudes of reproducing disciples impacting the nations with the Gospel of Jesus and His Kingdom.
